Casting Plant & Machinery Solutions
Casting turns molten metal into finished components by pouring it into moulds or dies, letting it solidify, then cutting off gates and risers and cleaning the surface. A casting unit handles hot metal, cooling lines and heavy fettling dust before parts are inspected and dispatched.
Complete Casting Process Flow
Moulds, cores and dies are cleaned, assembled and given a refractory coating. Coating slurry is kept in suspension, applied to the mould face and dried before the mould is closed.
Molten metal is tapped, carried to the casting station in ladles and poured into the mould or die cavity. Fume from the pouring bay is captured over the pouring line.
The poured castings are held until the metal has set, then moved through a cooling line. Heat given off during cooling is carried away from the casting bay.
Runners, gates, risers and flash are cut off and the parting lines are ground back. Fettling produces metallic dust and grit, so the fettling bay is put under extraction.
Castings are washed clear of sand, scale and machining residue, then polished where the finish matters. Wash and finishing areas are ducted so mist and dust do not carry into the shop.
Castings are checked for dimensional accuracy, surface defects and internal soundness before they are accepted. Accepted parts are sorted, protected and loaded out.
